FREESTANDING AWNINGS
THE PERFECT OPTION FOR CREATING A LARGE SHADED AREA, COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT FROM THE WALLS OF A BUILDING
So often there is simply either nothing to fix to, or maybe shade is required for an area away from any other structure. For this exact purpose, we offer a variety of aluminium support structures to support either a retractable awning, a retractable fabric pergola, or one of the larger pergola systems as a totally self supported shading product.
We have fitted various ‘butterfly’ freestanding awnings into domestic properties as they make perfect sense, especially as the coverage from these systems is massive.
In most cases there is a retractable fabric awning either side of the aluminium support structure. For example, with two awnings either side at four metre projection, and seven metres wide, each you have 56 square metres of covering when extended fully!
The Markilux Syncra system is a tried and tested framework system to support any of the Markilux retractable products for either a single or double awning installation. It comes in two forms, the Fix and the Flex, and the difference relates to how the system is grounded. The aluminium profiles used for this system are super strong and tested to deal with the harshest of climates.
One of the main benefits of the Syncra is that it can be a fixed system bolted or even concreted into the ground, or it can be free standing, using extremely heavy ballast filled stabilisation boxes. This means effectively the system can be moved when required and no ground works are required to install making it extremely flexible. The boxes themselves can be adapted and turned into seating, or decorative areas with flowers, etc.
Pergolas are another possibility, with the Markilux Pergola coming in two different forms, either the 110 or 210. The word ‘pergola’ is used to describe a retractable fabric canopy system with a framework structure to offer higher wind loading and rain protection ability.
These are free standing awning systems that uses aluminium posts to allow it to either reach greater projections than usual awnings or to be completely free standing and independent of any existing walls.
The 210 differs from the 110 via the use of telescopic posts that allow a front corner to be lowered, draining water off into that direction.
