Cliftonville Care Home, Northampton Awning Installation

This care home in Northampton, UK, was looking for an awning for a first floor outdoor terrace area. The area was previously only able to be used in perfect conditions, not too hot and sunny, nor wet. Cliftonville Care Home were hoping to be able to make more use of the area via an awning system.

The Pergola was cantilevered, which you can see was done by setting the two supporting posts back a little from the front of the system. This allowed the front of the system to over hang the terrace, which helps to channel rain away. Alongside this, it allows more control over shading from the sun during the day.

Helping to channel away the rain is especially important, as pooling water could be a serious hazard, and with elderly residents, it could prove very dangerous. Alongside this, the extra control over the sun that this also enables will allow the the terrace to be used at times when the sun is lower, such as in the morning or evening.
