Product Overview
Choose Your Awning or Terrace Cover Carefully…
Such a choice… what a dilemma … and to make the right selection it is important to carefully evaluate all of the options. First decide why you are looking for in a shade and weather protection system and what it must do for you. Generally the three most common requirements we find requested are:
- A covered area for outdoor activities that provides protection from sun and light showers
Whether you wish to extend your recreation area, enjoy Alfresco dining, or just enjoy sitting outside there are several pleasing options to choose from. No longer will a short shower or chilly breeze need to bother you! - Prevention of internal heat ingression
Why not just put up an internal blind – certainly it will be cheaper. It will also be virtually a waste of time if room temperature control is an issue. An internal blind absorbs the heat from the window and allows it to permeate in to the room. A correctly sited external blind STOPS the window getting hot therefore effectively assisting the prevention of uncomfortably high room temperatures. Don’t forget – the lighter the fabric colour the greater the deflection of heat. - All year round weather protection to enable use of the patio more
It is now very possible to create an outside area that truly offers all year round protection whilst having the flexibility to change during the day and night to accomodate the weather and temperature changes.
We offer systems with fully retractable fabric roof covers or fixed roof systems with optional built in retractable fabric awnings to help control light and heat. Combined with suitable lighting and heating systems you can create small or large areas where you can truly be outdoors but indoors as much or as little as you wish.
Retractable Patio Awnings For most normal outside home sun shade requirements the most practical solution would normally be the retractable patio awnings. The huge choice of colours of fabrics, the operating options and the wide range of sizes will cater for virtually any domestic situation where small or large areas need protection from the sun and maybe light rain showers (subject to correct specification). Our range of awnings is vast and all are made to measure for a perfect fit with 2 main manufacturers normally recommended – Markilux and Weinor – both the highest quality German built awning ranges with over 300 choices of fabric colours between them and an awning for every requirement whether it be a practical or style choice, manual or electric. |

With a glass room you will get far more use throughout the year of your patio and garden area and find the whole system far more versatile than a normal conservatory can be. Glass Rooms |

All Weather Awnings All Weather Awnings are built to withstand various weather conditions such as sun, wind & rain. Our awning range spans from small retractable patio awnings to high quality retractable fabric roof systems. Products developed and manufactured in Northern Europe are essential now to ensure the system used will withstand the weather now seen in the UK far too often – high winds and heavy rain, sometimes all changing in a very short time and catching us all out! |

Conservatory Awnings Our range of conservatory awnings provide excellent protection from the intense heat in a South or West facing conservatory where in most cases traditional built conservatories do struggle to battle with the heat of the summer. The awnings are purpose made to the exact size and in most cases are externally fitted to prevent the suns rays hitting the glass or polycarbonate roof by which time the heat will be transferring inside already. All systems are electric operated and controlled by internal switches or hand held remote controls. Conservatory Awnings |

|
A more robust structure is the Markilux Pergola or the Weinor Plaza Home These are semi-permanent structures with extruded aluminium uprights ultimately offering more all year round protection than an awning can.
Moving on to a completely different concept is the butterfly shaped Markilux Syncra It is the only awning that can cover areas of up to 56 square metres without needing wall support. |

Or consider the elegant Paraflex offering a superb method of shading in and around your garden. |
This pretty well sums up the most popular options to provide outdoor cover. So, we will now look at the most effective methods of preventing heat and light ingression into your home.
Drop arm awnings are the practical and popular solution with aesthetic appeal. Variable enough to provide gentle protection from direct heat to enjoy a relaxing siesta to assisting temperature control of the complete house
A more basic and less costly solution would be the cassetted vertical exterior blind.
A further, rather traditional blind is the Dutch Canopy. Whilst not always appropriate, this canopy can be a very pretty alternative and, just occasionally, eminently suitable for some properties enhancing certain features. |
“At What Price Privacy?”
Either look at individually or combined, a drop down valance on a retractable awning or
retractable side screens to provide effective, easy to use privacy and protection from cool breezes.
Of course the Weinor Plaza Pro with the full length cover will perform like the drop down valance. |
