The Markilux 990 awning is a sun protection system specifically made for use on garden patio or decked areas. The high-quality manufacturing process of this sun protection system is an assurance of a product built to last and provide many years of trouble-free operation.
The newly re-designed Markilux 990 has proved immensely popular within the retractable awnings UK market. It’s fully enclosed cassette imperviously seals the awning cover, roller and folding arms to protect and ensure it remains as attractive as the day it was installed. It will retain its appearance and function for years to come whilst offering outstanding protective sun shading from the elements, denying the chance for rust or mould to grow.
This retractable awning solution is ideally suited to courtyards, terraces, patios, and balconies however it is highly adaptable and can easily cope with other applications.
The 990 model is associated with true build quality. It has a compact and lightweight design and a highly attractive oval cassette design that is available in a range of colours, powder-coated onto a high-quality aluminium build.

The compact construction with the U-shaped front profile in which the folding arms and awning cover disappear, and an impressive angle of pitch of up to 65 degrees when ceiling mounted make this awning best suited for patios and balconies. Forged knuckle arm joints are an indication of the highest quality build where so many other brands do not use this type of manufacturing. The arms are one of the most important components in overall performance.

Folding arms with perfected power transference by means of a round, steel-link chain.
Folding arms with drop-forged aluminium moving components and Teflon-coated bronze bushes, which provide superior stability and ingevity.
The aluminium cassettes which house the awning are available in a range of seven colours to create several designer choices for you. They come in white, grey, and black, with either aluminium or chrome centerpieces; fantastic if you want to add a bit of glitz to your awning!
The Markilux 990 is custom-built to your specific requirements as STANDARD at no extra cost, ensuring a perfect fit is managed. It has a maximum width of five metres and a maximum projection of three metres. For larger areas, multiple units can be installed for maximum flexibility.
Operation
This awning is available with both electric and manual operation drives. Electric operation is powered by a remote control electric Somfy motor. This allows you to be able to control your awning from the comfort of your chair, or even up to 100 metres away.
This model is also available with sensor-controlled operation with the use of several accessories such as wind, sun and rain sensors which quickly act when the sun shines too bright, it gets too windy, or rains too much. Recent developments include the option for IO technology for the controls, providing access to Smart Home automation if required and control via smartphone or tablet anywhere in the world…
