The bioclimatic pergola concept has taken Europe by storm for sure, but the simple fact is that there are so many variations to what appears at first glance to be the same product when viewing various options and price points. The concept of rotating aluminum blades is sound, but the roof is flat, so water drainage is important, as is the continuous operation of so many individual blades in the roof. Electric operation, along with various controls will ensure the very best experience and usability, the rest is down to the quality and strength of the structure and blades used.

High quality ‘luxury’ bioclimatic pergolas are all electrically operated and made to measure as standard with a choice of colours and quite necessary options such as LED lighting and heating. Closing one of these pergolas in rain will result in a blackout underneath as the roof is solid, so lighting is perhaps almost essential to ensure the best experience when using the system most of the year round.

We offer wall mounted or stand alone, self-supporting systems, with either a fixed blade position or the more desirable retractable blade system, enabling you to open up to the sky when required. All the blades rotate and the amount of rotation possible is also perhaps key to usability in a real world.

Any bioclimatic pergola has an internal rainwater guttering system, so there will always be one or more times a year when this will be simply overloaded by a very heavy rainstorm. The size of the channel and number of drainage posts will dictate the result of a major storm situation, but whatever any brand might claim, they cannot be 100% waterproof…

All our bioclimatic pergolas are electrically operated and made to measure as standard for the very best performance with the blade closure and ease of control and adjustment of slat angles.

All our bioclimatic pergolas are modular so additional products can be added to one or all sides to further enclose and protect against weather. This can be done at a later date to the installation of the main pergola framework and roof…

LUXURY ELECTRIC LOUVRE ROOF PERGOLA

Our use of the word ‘luxury’ is a reference to enhanced performance specification and additional LED lighting and heating included, along with 2 open sides fitted with vertical electric zip blinds for protection against rain and wind. These would normally be fitted onto the side with the prevailing wind exposure.

LED lighting can be specified in various positions as either spotlights or diffused linear lighting.

We would recommend lighting on these pergola systems because the roof is a solid, light blocker when closed. Also of course using the system into the evenings is far more pleasurable with controllable lighting and infra-red halogen heating when it is cooler.
